Tableau Public limits you to only locally available data sources like Excel, Text files, TDE (Tableau data extract), and Access. No user level security in the Tableau public server. Workbooks published on the Tableau public server are accessible by anyone on the Internet. The next thing is to create a new worksheet to be able to create a viz from scratch. Anyone can create visualizations using either Tableau Desktop Professional Edition or the free Tableau Public Edition. Research Data Services does not currently offer support or training for these other programs.Tableau Public is a free platform to publicly share and explore data visualizations online. There are dozens of other data visualization programs, including Microsoft Power BI, Qlik Sense, and TIBCO SpotFire, to name a few.

This version has the full saving and file importing capabilities of the professional version (Tableau Desktop). You must provide your student information (institution, school email address, etc.).

Tableau for Students is available with a renewable one-year license for each year you are a student. Tableau Public is available on all Atlanta campus University Library computers.
Your visualizations can only be published online and are accessible to anyone. Most of the visualization capabilities are the same as the full version, but your file importing and saving options are limited. Tableau Public is available for anyone to download and learn the basics of Tableau.
